The Colonial Invitational Picks Are Up!

Nobody picked Hogan...

Let's Get It On!The organized picks for the first tournament of the Summer Season are on the site.  We chose 27 golfers.  Young Texan Jordan Spieth is this week's favorite and a unanimous pick for the third time this year.  Walker, Texas Golfer was the #2 pick of the week, chosen 11 times.  Zach, Iowa Golfer, shows up on 8 teams.  Yet another golfer from the Corn Hole State, Ryan Palmer, is on 7 teams.  Another non-American, though this time not from Texas, Paul Casey, got the nod 6 times.  Adam Scott and Charley Hoffman were chosen 5 times each.  Senden, Na and Reed are all 4-baggers.  Weekley and Mahan are treys.  The deuces include Chris "Captain" Kirk, Kevin "Ass" Kisner and Sean "Pubic" O'Hair.

Twelve uniques to start off a Summer of golf pooling.  Chris and Mike M. lead with 3 each.  Dave and Mike D. check in with 2 each.  Joe and Dan have one each.  The other 7 of us will know neither the joy and elation nor the woe and heartache of the all-powerful unique pick this week.

At first glance I thought this was a pretty tight set of picks... 3 golfers picked are not playing so 24 golfers, 9 uniques, 4 picked by more than half of us, 63% 1's, 2's or 3's, which is the lowest percentage of the year other than the Masters... but we have a bunch of picks in the 4, 5 and 6 area, which opens things up a bit.  If those 4-5-6 golfers play well it will take at least one or two more finishing high to win.  In other words, it's a fine set of picks for some excellent golf pooling.  For some reason I don't have the disdain for this tournament as I do for all other things Texas.  It must be the Hogan factor.  This tournament has been at the same course since its inception in 1946 and the list of past champions is pretty strong, both of which raise the respect factor.  Good tournament, good set of picks... oh yea, it's gonna be a good one...

Let's get it on!
