Hugh Wins The U.S. Open!

His team had very few Americans, which had a lot to do with why he won...

The Rule 20-6 U.S. Open TrophyThe player with the most unique picks won this week, but the uniques didn't make the difference.  Hugh's two non-unique picks of winner Rory McIlroy and 2nd place Jason Day combined for enough winnings to lead him to victory this week.  All of his five unique picks made the cut, so he won by a lot, $600,108 over 2nd place Elise.  This week was Elise's first cash in a major.  Mike M. finished 3rd, his first cash of the year, $131,983 behind Elise.  Dan ended up 4th, a mere $13,509 out of the last money spot.

The USGA's way of dividing up the purse, which ended up being $350,000 more than what I used during the tournament, didn't effect the order of the final standings, only the amounts.

This was the first "Rory May Care", err, uh, rather "Tiger May Care", tournament of the summer, so Hugh, Elise, Mike and Dan are 1-2-3-4 there.

I jumped into the lead in the Summer Season race.  Steve trails by $81,576.  Dave A. is 3rd by $52,981 and Hugh is on the money bubble.  Lots of golf pooling to go in that race.

I still lead in the year-long standings.  Steve jumped over Bill to 2nd.  Bill is third and leads bubble boy Dave B. by $25,896.  Dave B. was the only player other than Hugh to pick Jason Day this week, but he forgot to pick McIlroy.

The next tournament in about 10 days is the one they use to play at Congressional, the AT&T National.  This year, as last year, it will be at Aronimink Golf Club near Philly.  Tiger won't be there; but frankly, who cares?  Aronimink is a tough course and I'll bet even if it rains all week there won't be 20 golfers under par.  I'm picking 5 uniques, no more.

Get those picks in on time.

Later,
