Mike M. Wins The Memorial!

The one guy who deserved to win won this week...

The Rule 20-6 Tournament #10 trophyOnly three of us thought Tiger would be "back", again, this week and as one would expect those were the top 3 finishers.  Mike M. was the only one of the 3 to couple the Comeback Kid with a top 10 finisher, t8 Justin Rose, and won this week by just over $248k.  Mike's unique pick of t25 Kyle Reifers "Madness" didn't harsh his buzz either, though his only other golfer to make the cut, t13 Jim Furyk, probably helped more.  Second place finisher Chris had t19 Charl Schwartzel as a unique, along with Tiger and 2 other picks making the cut, to help keep him ahead of 3rd placer Randy.  Randy had a total of 5 golfers playing the weekend but aside from Mr. STD, none finished better than 50th.  Hugh did the best of the players who doubted the golfer who is now tied for 2nd in career PGA tour wins.

This was the first event of the Spring Season, so those standings are just like the Memorial Tournament standings.

Randy, Bill and I stayed 1-2-3 in the Year-Long race, though Randy did extend his lead.  Mike M. made the big jump from 11th to 4th.

For those of you who are new, forgot or don't really care, Mike M. works the Memorial and works his ass off all week and the weeks leading up to the tournament.  I'm always happy to see him win this event, like he did a couple years ago, since he probably saw little, if any, golf despite being there all week.

The next event in about 10 days will be our 2nd major of the year, The U.S. Open.  It's in San Francisco at the Olympic Club.  Past Open winners at Olympic are Jack Fleck, Billy Casper, Scott Simpson and Lee Janzen.  If history holds true it'll be a week for the uniques.  Since it's in San Francisco, I'm picking Olazabal.  Or maybe Davis Love and Justin Leonard.

Get those picks in on time.

Later,
