Chris Wins The U.S. Open!

He could have 5-putted the last hole and still won...

The Rule 20-6 Golf Pool U.S. Open trophy.Chris successfully defended his U.S. Open title, winning this week by just under $654k over Brian.  He had the top 3 finishers on his team, including T2 Louie O. as a unique.  Louie's back nine 29 was pretty much the key to his first win and first cash of the year.  Brian was the only player with all 7 picks making the cut, but had no way to defend against the Oostie Birdie Train.  Mike D. finished 3rd, about $88k behind Brian, had T9 Jason Day as a unique and rode up and down with his story.  I finished 4th, around $26k short of a major cash.

This was the first T.M.C. of the Summer Season so the standings match those of the Open.

The Summer Season rankings tightened up quite a bit, though we are only at the 1/3 point.  Dave moved into 1st and leads 2nd place Steve by $63,527.  Brian stayed in 3rd but is a mere $3,810 behind Steve.  I am on the bubble, $165,810 short of Brian.  The top 8 are separated by less than $900k.

Brian and Steve continued their weekly see-saw battle in the Year-Long pool.  Brian now leads Steve by just over $105k.  Dave is still 3rd, about $1.2 million behind Steve.  I am once again 4th, around $650k out of the final pay spot.

Our next event in about 9 days is an event we haven't played since 2011, The Greenbrier Classic in White Sulphur Springs, West Virginia.  The course is apparently now a TPC course, so out of total disrespect for all TPC courses I will not type out its name.  They usually have a decent field for this tournament and I think they go pretty low on this course too.  I seem to remember someone shooting 59 a few years ago, but that was probably before it was "toughened up" and made a TPC course.  I predict someone will shoot 58.

Get those picks in on time.

Later,
