Dan Wins The Quicken Loans National!

Tiger seen making a cut...

The Rule 20-6 Golf Pool Tournament #15 trophy.Dan had 5 of his 6 cut makers in the top 4 this week, including 2nd place Rickie Fowler and 3rd place David Lingmerth, all 6 in the top 20 and won this week by $184,138 over Dave.  It was Dan's 2nd win in a row.  Dave also had 5 golfers in the top 4 but no 3rd place Lingmerth.  Mike D. finished 3rd, $30,150 behind Dave.  He had Fowler and Lingmerth, but only 2 T4 finishers.  Also, Mike and a couple others were hurt by Rickie's birdie on #18, which moved Lingmerth to 3rd alone instead of T2.  Both Dave and Mike also lost out on higher finishes when Bill Haas took after his father and chopped it on the back nine Sunday.  At least it wasn't a Ryder Cup.  Brian ended up on the money bubble, only $4,913 away from cashing.  This one really did come down to the wire.

Brian and Dave stayed 1-2 in the Summer Season race.  Dan moved up 1 spot to 3rd.  Steve also moved up one spot to 4th.  About $2 million separates 1st and 8th places and with $26 million in purses left in 3 tournaments this baby is far from over.

For the fourth tournament in a row the Year-Long standings did not change.  They are still Brian, Steve, Dave, me.

The next tournament in about 10 days is the year's final major, "Glory's Last Shot", The PGA Championship, held this year at Whistling Straits G.C. in Sheboygan, Wisconsin.  Actually it is not supposed to be referred to as "Glory's Last Shot" anymore.  Why you ask?  Classic PGA Tour arrogance, that's why.  Because of all the "Glory" involved in that coveted Fed-Ex Cup, the PGA Tour requested that the PGA of America not use the "Glory's Last Shot" marketing slogan anymore.  The PGA of America, being the wimps that they are, agreed.  I think they will now only be saying "The Year's Last Major".  Catchy.  The Fed-Ex Cup is about money.  The PGA Championship is a major and winning it will be what a golfer's career will be remembered for (though I will admit there is quite a bit of money involved too).  Majors = Glory.  Fed-Ex Cup = Greed and Arrogance.  The next tournament we play will be Glory's Last Shot.  Count on it.

Get those picks in on time.
