The Masters Picks Are Up!

With 2 unanimous and only 22 different gofers this one's going to come down to the back nine on Sunday...

Let's Get It On! - MASTERS SPECIAL - The first person to read this and send me an email before the end of the tourney will get a $2 credit on their accout.
Well, it's springtime in the valley on Magnolia Lane
It's the Augusta National and the master of the game
Who'll wear that green coat on Sunday afternoon?
Who'll walk the 18th fairway singing this tune?
Augusta, your dogwoods and pines
They play on my mind like a song
Augusta, it's you that I love
And it's you that I'll miss when I'm gone.
It's Watson, Byron Nelson, Demaret, Player and Snead
It's Amen Corner and it's Hogan's perfect swing
It's Sarazen's double eagle at the 15 in '35
And the spirit of Clifford Roberts that keeps it alive
Augusta, your dogwoods and pines
They play on my mind like a song
Augusta, it's you that I love
And it's you that I miss when I'm gone.
It's the legions of Arnie's Army and the Golden Bear's throngs
And the wooden-shafted legend of Bobby Jones.

  - Augusta, by Dave Loggins

Yes, those are the actual lyrics to the instrumental song you hear at the beginning of every CBS telecast of the Masters.  And you will hear the same music this year when you visit the Rule 20-6 home page.  Save this email if you want to sing along.  I didn't put the music on the site last year and it just felt wrong.  I also added a lot more pictures to the display frame on the home page this year, about 40 total, but it only shows 8 each visit.  So each time you go to the home page you should get different pictures, along with the soothing background music of Dave Loggins.  If that won't get you in the mood for this year's first major I really don't know what will.

Dave Loggins is best known for writing the song "Please Come to Boston", a top-10 hit for him almost 40 years ago and since then redone by way too many other singers.  He also wrote songs for Three Dog Night, Reba McEntire, Alabama, Kenny Rogers and others.  He is also the cousin of Kenny Loggins who, of course, did the theme music for "Caddyshack".  Didn't think you'd learn all this shit playing in a golf pool, did you?

Enough trivia, we've got some serious golf pooling going on this week.  We went with a mere 22 different golfers and we are down to five-golfer teams because we had two unanimous picks, Young Rory and Old Tiger.  Phil The Fat Hack was the next favorite, picked by all but 2 smart players.  Westwood made 8 teams.  Hunter and Justin were chosen 7 times each.  Keegan and Adam were picked 5 times each.  Stricker got the nod 4 times.  Jay's boy and Gray-me are treys.  The deuces: Brandt and Angel.

Eight uniques.  Bill has 2.  Chris, Hugh, Brett, Dan, Mike D. and Dave B. had 1 each.  Everyone else was too tight to take any unique-like risks this week.

It looks like they are going to avoid a rain-out today.  The leaderboard is, as one would expect after the first round of the Masters, bizarre.  I bought some pimento cheese just to eat while I'm watching this week.  I'm thinking about stealing the neighbor's azalea bush to set beside the TV for the weekend.  Oh man, I'm ready for this.  Let the real golf season start.  It's silly to even think this might not be a good one...

Let's get it on!

Later,
