Mike M. Wins The Deutsche Bank!

It took more than the winner to cash this week...

The Rule 20-6 Golf Pool Tournament #17 Trophy.Mike M. had winner Henrik Stenson, along with 3 other top 20 finishers, used his team from last week and won this week by $33,971 over Hugh.  It was his first win of the year.  Though he didn't pick him, Mike benefited most from Graham DeLaet's birdies on the final 2 holes. DeLaet's 3rd place alone finish diluted the winnings of Hugh's T4 Jordan Spieth pick enough for Mike to sneak into first.  Brett, unlike Mike and Hugh, did not have winner Stenson on his team but still had a strong enough roster to end up 3rd, $209,529 behind Hugh.  Bill, who did pick Stenson, had the rest of his team play like putzes and finished on the bubble, a mere $1,519 out of the money.

Bill remained in 1st in the Summer Season race, just over $750k ahead of Hugh, who moved up from 4th.  Mike D. stayed in the final money spot and trails Hugh by about $454k.  I fell 2 spots to 4th, about $647k behind Mike.

I think if Bill submits a team for the next event with at least one golfer playing he'll win the Year-Long race.  He extended his lead to just over $2.5 million.  Randy is still in 2nd and leads 3rd place Hugh by about $606k.  Hugh came up from 8th place to the final money spot.  I fell one position to 4th, just under $313k behind Hugh.  This race is still tight for the last money spot; about $910k separates 3rd and 8th.

The next tournament, in about 9 days, is it.  The final tourney of the year and all the shit is on the line.  The Year-Long, Summer Season, "T.M.C." titles and money, along with the final event BMW Championship crown.  This year they are playing just north of Chicago at Conway Farms G.C.  I know nothing about this course but I certainly hope it is more challenging than the weak-ass course they played this week.  It's not a TPC course, so I'm sure it will be stronger.  I would think you would want to test your golfers a little more in a "Playoff" situation than the Boston birdie-fest I had to struggle through watching this weekend.  And no more "wet course" excuses either.  If someone shoots 20 under and loses, the course is too easy for the "Playoffs".  Save it for the Greater Boston Senior Ladies Depends Undergarments Classic.

Get those picks in on time.

Later,
