The San Diego Picks Are Up!

We are almost back to normal...

Let's Get It On!Sorry for the delay getting out this email... Pool issues, personal issues... who cares, right?  It's time to get our Golf Pool on!  The standings are up and the cut has already been made.  We chose 22 different golfers.  Young Jordan Spieth was, unfortunately, the unanimous favorite.  I guess we are down to, at best, six golfers now.  Jimmy "J.J." Walker was the 2nd most popular pick, on 11 teams.  Jason Day and Hideki Matsuyama check in on 10 teams each.  The Man in Orange got the nod 8 times.  Six unfortunate players went for Justin Rose.  Brooks Koepka made it on to 5 teams.  Brandt Snedeker and late w/d Graham DeLaet were 4-baggers.  Two treys: Keegan Bradley and M/C Mickelson.  Martin Laird, Billy Horschel and Marc Leishman are this week's deuces.

Eight unique picks for this 2015 opening week.  Chris, Joe and Mike M. had 2 each.  Bill and Jordie had one each.  The other 8 of us are wishing we had gone with a unique instead of those supposed "good" golfers who missed the cut.

We have a new player this year, Joe R.  Joe is originally from New York City and now lives in Boynton Beach, Florida.  He works with Brian at The Links at Boynton Beach golf course and lists his only real hobby as golf.  A dedicated golfer is always a dangerous golf pooler and so far, with his opening team hanging near the top this week, he is proving that.  He's from NYC, so you know the intensity will be there.  Welcome aboard, Joe.

Unfortunately we lost player(s) this year.  Dave A. confirmed he's out this spring, but I wouldn't be surprised if he comes back for the Summer when his work isn't as busy and the withdrawal pains become too severe.  Brett and Shelley told me a month or so ago they probably were not going to play this year, but it was not a definite no.  I haven't heard from them since, so even though they didn't update their picks, technically they could still play and count this week using the team from the last tournament last year.  I doubt they are playing, but if one or both of them show up in the standings I want everyone to know now.  I'm sure they'll let me know soon.

The payouts this year, if we end up with 13 players, will be $44-$22-$12 for regular tournaments, $73-$37-$20 for majors, $80-$41-$22 for the Spring Season and $88-$44-$24 for the Year.  If both Brett and Shelley return it will be the same as last year.  If one of them comes back it will be in-between the above and last year.  I'll post it on the Rules of Play page when I know for sure.

The tournament is already into the third round, so we are all well aware of the potential excitement this week.  Torrey Pines always gives us a good tournament.  We were all smart enough not to pick Tiger, who withdrew because his "glutes wouldn't activate".  I'm pretty sure that's his way of saying he needs to get his shit together.  I will be using the "glutes" excuse on the course this summer.

It's good to be back on the golf pool train and this week's tourney all ready is a damn good one...

Let's get it on!

Later,
