John Wins The Players Championship!

Oh come on, can't it be a major this year?...

The Rule 20-6 Golf Pool Tournament #5 Trophy.Though winner Jason Day was the key, it took a combination of decent golfers to win this week. My combination ended up with the most money and I won by $190,890 over Hugh.  The only difference between our teams was my T12 Adam Scott and Hugh's T64 Marc Leishman.  I won the Sunday match-up 68-75.  It was my 1st win and 2nd cash of the year.  Hugh and I were the only players with 6 golfers making the cut.  Hugh's 2nd place finish was his first cash of 2016.  Steve grabbed his second 3rd place of the year, $21,735 behind Hugh.  Steve had 5 of the 6 cut makers Hugh and I had, missing only a Leishman or a Scott or someone else who could make the cut.  Jordie ended up 4th, $63,450 out of the money.

With 4 tournaments left in the Spring Season race Bill still leads, though his lead shrunk a bit to just under $515k.  Joe maintained 2nd and Steve stayed in 3rd, but the gap between them is down to about $342k.  I jumped up 5 spots to the bubble, less than $43k out of the money.

At the halfway pole of the Spring "TMC", Joe and Mike M. stayed 1-2.  I came up one spot to 3rd and Steve made a big jump from 9th to 4th.  The difference between the top 3 is around $240k and just over $1 million separates 1st from 12th.  With the Memorial and the U.S. Open left, there are still a lot of horses in this race.

Rest up for a week and in about 10 days we will head west to the Land of Steers and Queers and Ben Hogan, Ft. Worth, Texas, and the Colonial National Invitational at Colonial C.C.  Technically this year the tournament is called the "Dean and Deluca Invitational".  The new sponsor was arrogant enough not to include "Colonial" in the title, which was always done in the past, so I will be rude enough not to include the name of the overpriced grocery chain in my references to this tournament.  I'm sure the company will be forever damaged.   The Colonial has usually had a decent field and we have played here 6 times in the Pool's previous 12 years, including last year.  Dave has won 4 of those 6, including last year, so I guess that makes him the favorite.  I'm sure, being the tough competitors we are, we won't just hand him another one...

Get those picks in on time.

Later,
