Mike D. Wins The Quicken Loans National!

I guess now you have to be named Mike to win...

The Rule 20-6 Golf Pool Tournament #9 trophy. No one had the guts to pick winner Billy Hurley or old man runner-up Vijay Singh, but Mike D. did have a couple top ten uniques, old guy 5th place Ernie Els and 7th place Harold Varner, and along with ultimate rookie T3 Jon Rahm won handily this week by $374,298 over Oliver.  It was Mike's first win of the year and 2nd cash.   Oliver also had Rahm and T12 David Hearn as a unique, but not enough firepower to overtake Mike.  I snuck into 3rd, $80,407 behind Oliver, thanks mostly to Rahm's bogey on #17 Sunday and my pick of T3 Bill Haas not making any bogeys the last 3 days.  Dave finished on the bubble, missing the money by $5,488, and was hurt by Rahm's finish and having one less cut-maker than me.

Our teams didn't win enough this week to make any real differences in the Season race, so Mike M. hung on to win the Spring Season title by about $263k over Steve.  I ended up 3rd, just over $553k behind Steve.  Jordie finished 4th, around $603k out of the money.

We are back at it again in about 3 days, this week in America's Armpit, Akron, Ohio, at Firestone C.C. and our only WGC event of the year, the Bridgestone Invitational.  Top golfers in a small field and big money purse... this one will set the tone for the Summer Season race.  The Summer season is going to come fast and hard, so have your golf pooling game in shape.  Maybe this week someone not named Mike will win.

Get those picks in on time.

Later,
