The W.G.C.-Cadillac Championship Picks Are Up!

Big favorites and uniques. That's about it...

Let's Get It On!The picks and early round one standings for this week's tournament are up on the site.  We chose 27 different golfers.  No unanimous picks, but Tiger was pretty close with all but one player choosing him.  Rory was the 2nd favorite, picked 13 times.  D.J. shows up on 12 teams.  Hunter and Phil were chosen 10 times each.  Lee made the cut for 9 of us.  Charl got the nod 7 times.  Six of us like Nick.  Bill, Jay's boy, is the lone 4-bagger.  No treys this week and foreigners Graeme and Ian are the only deuces.

Sixteen unique picks for this South Florida event.  Dan has the most with 3.  Chris, Hugh, Jordie, Brett, Randy and Mike M. have 2 each.  Bill has one.  The other 7 of us towed the line and won't know the joys and sorrows of the unique pick world this week.

On a separate, not really golf-related item, I have set up a Rule 20-6 NCAA basketball tournament pool on ESPN.com.  Steve runs a really big March Madness pool on ESPN's site and I am now going to steal some of his words from the email he sends out:

If you want to play in this pool, go to ESPN.com and click on Fantasy Games.  If you have never played on ESPN you will need to register.  It is free.  Once registered, go to Tournament Challenge, name your entry, and then place your entry in the Group named “Rule 20-6”.  The password is “Tiger” (uppercase "T").  Make sure you get your entry into the Rule 20-6 group.  You can enter in to multiple groups, but you must be in the Rule 20-6 group to be eligible to win with us.

Once the brackets are announced on Sunday, March 11th, you may fill out your brackets.  Each entry will be $5.  You can enter up to 10 times, though why you would do that many in this group I don't know.  We will payout exactly as we payout for our golf pools (see #6 under the "Rules of Play" link on Rule20-6.com).  You may also want to read the rules on ESPN.com.  I want to keep this group limited to only current golf pool players.  I will collect (and payout) on this at the end of the golf pool year.

If you are interested in joining a bigger March Madness pool, contact Steve (his email is in the "To:" section above).  Please note, Steve is NOT as lax on making people pay up in his pool as I am.  If you join his group, send him the money before the end of the first weekend's games.  Steve is better friends with Moose and Rocko then I am, and he WILL use him.  His pool is $10 per entry, gets close to 100 entries and pays out more top-heavy than we will.

Enough of this basketball stuff, we've got some serious-ass golf pooling to do this week.  I really don't know what to say about this set of picks... fairly conservative by most of us (Dave B. and I ended up with the exact same teams) with a few obvious favorites, then a couple middle of road picks, and then 2/3 of the picks deuces or uniques.  And there are some damn good golfers who are unique picks.  In fact, 5 of the top 7 in the World Golf Rankings are unique picks.  Wow.  This is going to be some extreme golf pooling.  We've got a classic Florida course and 74 of the best golfers in the world.  Screw basketball, this is gonna be a damn good golf tournament...

Let's Get It On!

Later,
