Dave Wins The Players Championship!

Brian captures the T.M.C. and the Spring Season...

The Rule 20-6 Golf Pool Tournament #9 trophyIt seems like someone picks winner Rickie Fowler every time he plays, but it didn't happen this week.  As a group we only had 2 golfers in the top 10 and 7 in the top 20.  The best we could do was a playoff loser, The Greasy Spaniard.  Seven players had him and of that bunch Dave's team came out the winner.  Dave's picks of T17's Russell Knox (a unique) and Matsuyama helped put him on top by $130,857 over Jordie.  It was Dave's 2nd win of the year.  Jordie cashed for the first time this year, thanks in large part to T17 Henrik Stenson's final round 68.  He ended up just under $30k ahead of 3rd place Bill.  Bill had one more cut maker than Jordie, but his also-rans mailed it in on Sunday.  Chris ended up on the bubble, missing out on the grease-ball Spanish money party by about $65k.

Brian won the Spring Season pool, passing Steve in the last event, mainly because Steve didn't want any of that Spanish Slime on his team this week.  Brian's consistent picking throughout the season had quite a bit to do with his near $109k win, too.  He had 4 cashes and only one finish in the bottom half of the field and that was a 7th place in the first tournament.  Dave passed me to nab the last money spot and that was due entirely to the Spanish Seborrhea.

Brian was also the winner of the Spring "T.M.C." pool.  This one ended up pretty tight, with Dan finishing 2nd by $127,200.  Steve ended up 3rd, about $27k behind Dan.  Dave was 4th.

We get a week off before starting up the Summer Season.  In about 10 days we go back to Texas, this time in Ft. Worth at The Colonial C.C. for the The Crowne Plaza Invitational at Colonial, which I will most likely here forward refer to as simply, The Colonial.  We will no doubt here much Ben Hogan lore... being in Ft. Worth I guess that's acceptable.  At least it won't be delivered by NBC announcers, CBS is carrying this one.

Get those picks in on time.

Later,
