Bill Wins The Northern Trust Championship!

The end of the year is always a good time to get hot...

The Rule 20-6 Golf Pool Tournament #17 trophy.First, I completely forgot to write the usual beginning of the tournament email.  It never occurred to me until Sunday when I was doing the results.  If you were anxiously awaiting that email, sorry about that.  Here is the summary version:

23 golfers picked.  Justin Rose was the favorite.  11 uniques.  Andrew and Mike M. had the same 7.  Tight bunch of picks.  Going to be close.  Course is tough but wet.  New Jersey smells funny.  Gonna be a good one.  Let's get it on.

Now what really matters, the results.  Three players had low tournament pick, second place Tony Finau, so those 3 are this week's money winners.  Bill was the only one to add 2 other top 10's, T8's Justin Thomas and Brooks Koepka, and won this week by $159,840 over Tom.  It was Bill's 2nd win in 3 weeks, 3rd cash in a row and 4th cash of the year.  Tom picked up his 2nd cash of the year, finishing $60,600 ahead of Jordie, who suffered from too many MC's.  Steve found the distant money bubble, $684,600 behind Jordie.

Bill grabbed 1st place from Andrew in the Summer Season pool.  Bill leads 2nd place Andrew by $277,059.  I stayed in 3rd, $838,838 behind Andrew.  Hugh remained in 4th, $33,430 out of the last payout spot.  The top 7 here are under $1.75 million apart and places 3 through 7 are separated by less than $632k.

In the Year-Long race, I stayed in 1st but it got a lot closer.  Bill moved up from 6th to 2nd and trails me by $218,354.  Andrew fell one spot to 3rd and is $278, 507 behind Bill.  Brian G. is still 4th, only $109,524 from the last money position.  First place and 6th are only $1,276,616 apart and the spread between 3rd and 6th is less than $780k.

This week is it.  The fat is in the fire and all the pools are on the line.  In about 3 1/2 days we will tee it up for one last time in 2018 in Massachusetts at the TPC Boston for The Dell Technologies Championship.  The Year-Long, Summer Season and the "TMC' are all up for grabs with lots of players still in the hunt.  Time to get your golf pool on.  Even though this is being held in The Land of Cheaters and football season is near, no cheating will be allowed.

Get those picks in on time.

Later,
