The Bridgestone Invitational Picks Are Up!

Only 7 unique picks, but that is a little deceptive...

Let's Get It On!The picks and round one standings for this week's tournament are on the site. We chose 27 golfers.  Tiger is once again back on the unanimous streak.  Adam Scott and currently one of the tour's best chokers, Dustin Johnson, are tied for second favorite, picked 10 times each.  British Open champ and former top choker Phil Mickelson shows up 9 times.  Henrik Stenson, Lee Westwood and Brandt Sneeedeker are on 6 teams each.  Matt Kuchar and Justin Rose were chosen 5 times each.  Steve Stricker got the nod 4 times.  Charl and Jason Day are treys.  More deuces than uniques this week: Furyk, Dufner, English, Bubba, Fowler, Keegan, Rory and Haas (Bill, not Jay or Hunter) all came in as deuces.

Seven unique picks.  Shelley is the leader with 2.  Randy, Hugh, Dave A. and both Mikes have one each.  That means the remaining 9 of us could not find Firestone uniqueness.  Considering the field is only 73 golfers with, at the most, 50 having any chance of winning, I'd say finding a unique pick took some work.

At first glance the picks look fairly conservative, but we have only 4 chosen by more than half of us and 17 of the 27 are uniques, deuces or treys  And with no cut it's going to make for some weekend excitement.  Firestone is still a pretty good test for these guys.  Got to hit it straight, lots of trees... but it looks like the rough is down a little bit, which would be on purpose considering the amount of rain Ohio has had this summer.  Got to keep Tiger in the race, I guess.  They should grow the rough as long as my yard... the hacks would never finish.  Even with pussy rough and the fact that they're in Akron, this is still gonna be a damn good one...

Let's get it on!

Later,
