The WGC-Cadillac Match Play Picks Are Up!

Good luck figuring out who's leading the pool before Sunday...

Let's Get It On!It's you that I adore
You'll always be my whore
You'll be a mother to my child
And a child to my heart
We must never be apart
We must never be apart

Lovely girl you're the beauty in my world
Without you there are no reasons left to find

And I'll pull your crooked teeth
You'll be perfect just like me
You'll be a lover in my bed
And a gun to my head
We must never be apart
We must never be apart

Lovely girl you're the murder in my world
Dressing coffins for the souls I've left to die
Drinking mercury
To the mystery of all that you should ever leave behind
In time

In you I see dirty
In you I count stars
In you I feel so pretty
In you I taste god
In you I feel so hungry
In you I crash cars
We must never be apart

Drinking mercury
To the mystery of all that you should ever seek to find
Lovely girl you're the murder in my world
Dressing coffins for the souls I've left behind
In time

We must never be apart

And you'll always be my whore
'Cause you're the one that I adore
And I'll pull your crooked teeth
You'll be perfect just like me

In you I feel so dirty in you I crash cars
In you I feel so pretty in you I taste god
We must never be apart

Those lyrics have nothing to do with this week's tournament, I was just thinking of my past relationships.  The somewhat organized picks for this week's tournament are on the site.  For the group play, standings will come at the end of the day's play, more likely the following morning since this is played on the west coast and the last group won't be done until past my bed time.  With this format the standings won't mean too much until Sunday anyway... but that's pretty much true every week, isn't it?  We chose 28 golfers.  The youngsters, Rory and Jordan, are our favorites, picked 10 times each.  Defending champ Jason Day came in with 9 takers.  Last week's winner Justin Rose made it on to 8 teams.  Henrik and D.J. were picked 6 times each.  Roller coaster Jim got the nod 5 times.  What would be an intense match, Patrick Reed and Ian Poulter, are the only 4 baggers.  Casey, Kuchar and Oosthuizen are this week's treys.  The deuces are Mahan, Snedeker, Jamie Donaldson and The Bubba.

Twelve unique picks.  Mike M. is the runaway leader with 4.  Joe, Jordie and Mike D. have 2 each.  Dan and Randy come in with 1 each.  The other 7 of us missed out on a head-to-head, match play unique.

A somewhat predictable set of picks... some of us taking some chances, some playing it tight.  A few clear favorites but still 2/3 of the golfers are uniques, deuces or treys.  Dan pointed out in his comments with his picks that 7 golfers is a good number for this type of format.  He's right.  Whether they play it like this year with the groups or a traditional style match play as they've done in the past, you have to throw out that one guy you think will make it to the quarter finals and won't go any farther.  And if the the #8 guy I threw out wins this thing, or even gets to the semi's, I'm going to be pissed.  They published a purse distribution before the start, a first for a W.G.C. event, so the standings should be pretty accurate, despite their irrelevance and bizarre look in the early rounds.  I think this group play thing is better than the single elimination way.  Certainly a lot more golf to watch... 112 matches vs. 64... hell yea, that alone makes it a damn good one...

Let's get it on!

Later,
