Hugh Wins The Texas Open

Nobody got shot, so in Texas that's a good tournament...

The Rule 20-6 Golf Pool Tournament #7 trophy. Most of our picks did not seem to want to win this week and played like it on Sunday.  Hugh was the only player with 2 golfers finishing in the top 10 (5th place Z.J. and 7th place Ryan Moore) and won this week by $109,843 over Mike A.  It was Hugh's first win and cash of 2018.  He also had T11 Billy Horschel and also-ran T51 Matt Kuchar as his only other cut-makers.  Mike cashed for the 2nd week in a row and had 6 of his 7 golfers playing on the weekend, but was kept out of the top spot in large part due to Chesson Hadley's final round 73 and most of team playing like they wanted to get out of Texas as quickly as possible.  Dan finished 3rd, $10,375 behind Mike, and picked up his 3rd cash in a row and 4th of the year.  Mike M. found the money bubble, $7,357 behind Dan.

Mike M. still leads the Spring Season pool.  Dan stayed in 2nd and trails Mike by about $679k.  Andrew is 3rd, about $1.2 million behind Dan.  I moved up one spot to 4th, approximately $60k short of Andrew.  Anyone wanting to make a move in this pool better do it, only 2 tournaments left.

We get a week off then head to Charlotte, North Carolina and the Quail Hollow Club for the Wells Fargo Championship.  This tournament usually has a pretty good field, certainly better than last week's, since many of the golfers use it as a warm-up for the Players Championship, which is the following week.  Quail Hollow is a far superior course to Sawgrass, so if you can play The Quail, Sawgrass should be a breeze.  Keep that in mind because the Wells Fargo and The Players are the last 2 tournaments of the Spring Season race and both are "TMC" events.  If you have been just coasting so far this year it's time to put the peddle down and do some serious golf pooling.

Get those picks in on time.

Later,
