Steve Wins The L.A. Open!

Unlike our picks, he held on after leading round 3...

The Rule 20-6 Golf Pool Tournament #3 trophy.Steve had T7 Adam Scott as a unique and despite his final round 75 Steve was able to hang on and win this week by $20,695 over Bill and me.  Steve obviously had some other good picks including 4 top 10's, 6 golfers in the top 15 and all 7 in the top 25.  It was his 2nd cash in a row and 1st win since the 2016 Colonial Invitational, 50 tournaments ago, snapping the 2nd longest current winless streak in the Pool.  Bill and I tied for 2nd and had all 7 of our picks in the top 15, but needed one less stroke from a golfer Steve didn't have.  Tom grabbed the last money spot, just under $69,000 behind Bill and me, and had 6 top 15's but made that Mickelson mistake a lot of us seem to be making this year.  Mike M. found the money bubble, missing out on a cash by just $7,844.

At the 1/3 pole in the Spring Season race, Joe stayed in 1st.  Steve and Jordie switched places, Steve now 2nd and Jordie 3rd.  Tom is still 4th and I remained in 5th.

We get a one week break then we go back at it hard, 3 weeks in a row, starting in about 10 days in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida and the PGA National Golf Club for the Honda Classic.  Yes, brace yourselves for hearing all about "The Bear Trap" and whatever other gibberish NBC and the Golf Channel want to throw at us about this really fairly average golf course.  Average unless the wind blows, which it usually does this time of year in south Florida.  If there's no wind, it'll be a snoozer.  Target golf, just the way those banger boys like it.  I'm hoping for 25-30 mph all week.  There will be twice the choking than what happened this past Sunday.  For the money these guys make, they should have to suffer a little.

Get those picks in on time.

Later,
