Brian T. Wins The Arnold Palmer!

Finally...

The Rule 20-6 Golf Pool Tournament #5 trophy.Four players had winner Francesco Molinari, so those 4 were the money winners this week.  Brian T. joined the Pool in 2016 and was unable to pick up a win that first year.  He won the 2017 Year-Long pool without winning a tournament all year.  That took a bunch of 2nd place and other high finishes.  Last year for him was rough, only one 3rd place finish.  He played his first 58 tournaments without a win.  That ended this week as he was the only player to have all 7 golfers make the cut and won by $78,715 over Andrew.  It was Brian's 1st cash of the year.  Andrew also cashed for the first time in 2019 and had 6 cut makers.  Mike D. ended up 3rd, $27,391 behind Andrew.  It was also his 1st time in the money this year.  Tom grabbed his 2nd 4th place finish of the Spring, $51,324 short of Mike.  Dave B. was a very distant 5th.

This was the first TMC, so those standings are just like the tournament standings.

In the Year-Long race, Joe, Steve and I stayed 1-2-3.  Tom made a nice move from 12th to 4th.  Jordie is now on the money bubble.  Joe leads Steve by $684k and then 2nd through 9th places are within $850k.  Four tournaments to go.

Suck it up boys.  One more Florida tournament to go before we get a break.  In about 3 days we go northeast of Orlando to Ponte Vedra Beach and the TPC Sawgrass course for the big money Players Championship.  They jacked the purse to $12.5 million and that means the winner will get $2.25 million.  We've only had 5 teams all year that totaled more than that.  A unique winner would be a pretty sweet path to a season title.  Now that they're playing this the time of year it should be played the course will be firm and fast.  No rain is in the forecast until Saturday, so the cut makers will have to golf their balls well.  And it's going to take some serious golf pooling to pick up a "W".  This is not a major and it never will be, but with that much cash on the line these guys will care and may actually try hard.

Get those picks in on time.

Later,
